Sub: NUSI Triennial General Body Meeting

The Triennial General Body meeting of National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) was held on 12th December, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Kesar baug Hall, 2nd Principal Shaikh Hasan Marg, Off. Shaida Marg. Hazrat Iman Hussain Chowk, Mumbai - 400 009.

Capt. Nand Hiranandani, NUSI - President presided and welcomed all the seafarers assembled at the meeting.

NUSI has been successful in the upward revision of the terms and service conditions of seafarers working on Indian and foreign flags ships in the foreign going, home trade, offshore, tugs sector including cruise ships. NUSI welfare initiatives, which is on par for serving, retired, medically unfit, deceased, has benefitted not just our members but also their family. Many welfare projects are being launched periodically.

All this is possible because of the strong support, guidance and efforts of the NUSI Executive Committee, NUSI Staff, NUSI Branch Representatives, NUSI Women Committee, NUSI Youth Committee and most importantly the trust of our seafarers and their families.

7. NUSI Welfare activities during the CORONA pandemic.

8. Financial support to children of seafarers working on cruise ships

10. Activities of NUSI Youth Committee

11. Activities of NUSI Women’s Committee

13. Seafarers Unity Day - 6th November

14. NUSI - “125 years of Trust – Re-defining trade unionism”

17. NUSI honoured with “Kashti Ratna” award for maritime leadership by Marex Media & “Most Active Seafarers Association” Award by Sailor Today

Thereafter the Audited Statement of Accounts was placed for the year 2018, 2019, 2020 and the same was adopted unanimously in the Triennial General Body Meeting

The General Body unanimously adopted the following important resolutions focussed on benefitting the seafarers.

• Priority employment to ratings with COC to become officers
• Total Income Tax exemption to Indian seafarers in the financial year 2020- 2021
• Climate Change
• Priority quota to facilitate travel for seafarers
• Acquiring and developing assets for union activities and welfare and skill enhancement of seafarers and their families

Thousands of seafarers and their families are been benefitted by the welfare inititatives of NUSI. All the initiatives of NUSI have been successful because of the strong and positive support of the seafarers and their families. We promise and are committed for the overall development of our seafarers. NUSI is a mass movement which is dependent on your suggestions and strong support. NUSI is your voice and it is also your responsibility to strengthen your NUSI further.
