Sub: NUSI team visit to Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra
1) Income Tax exemption to seafarers due to Covid non completion of Non-Resident 184 days
2) Priority quota to facilitate travel for seafarers
You are aware about the five important resolutions taken in the Triennial General Body meeting of the National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) held on 12th December, 2021.
1) Priority employment to ratings with COC to become officers
2) Income Tax exemption to seafarers due to Covid non completion of Non Resident 184 days
3) Climate Change
4) Priority quota to facilitate travel for seafarers
5) Acquiring and developing assets for union activities and welfare and skill enhancement of seafarers and their families.
On 13th December, 2021, NUSI team comprising of Shri Milind Kandalgaonkar – Vice President, Shri Abdulgani Y. Serang – General Secretary cum Treasurer and Shri Prakash Thakur – NUSI New Delhi representative met Hon’ble Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Governor of Maharashtra at Raj Bhavan.
Two petitions of resolutions 2) Income Tax exemption to seafarers due to Covid non completion of Non-Resident 184 days and 4) Priority quota to facilitate travel for seafarers were presented to the Hon’ble Governor on behalf of all ranks of seafarers.
Hon’ble Governor was impressed by the details of NUSI skill and welfare activities and the NUSI 125 year celebrations and promised to take up the abovementioned two issues with the Government of India.
